Project Aghaaz meaning “initiatve ”would not be possible without the support of SBI (State Bank of India). The objective is to empower girls and women through essential education to menstruators by experts about their own bodily functioning,to help in boosting their confidence whilst bringing a change in their menstrual health and hygiene practices. Further, its purpose is to bring revolutionary change in their attitudes and mindsets which they would be passing on to the future generation of menstruators, thus creating a ripple effect.

Sachhi Saheli the implementing agency will be making a conscious effort towards making a paradigm shift from traditional menstrual products like Sanitary pads and cloth to products that are more economically and environmental friendly such as menstrual cups. According to Menstrual Health Alliance India, 1 Sanitary Pad takes 500- 800 years to decompose , which is alarming and hazardous to the environment. By encouraging this shift from traditional to more viable products will be a positive step towards propagating positive changes around menstruation, enabling healthy menstrual practices for self and the environment.

The modus operandi of the program will be to distribute 100 menstraul cups in selected communities, and Sachhi Saheli will help the beneficiaries to make the transition from Sanitary pads tp period/ menstrual cups. Throughout the program a professional gynaecologist will be available to provide free assistance to the beneficiaries to help them transition from a sanitary pad to a Period cup
