Sachhi Saheli concluded its Pad Yatra 2020 with a unique Kanya Poojan in which more than 50 girls and women of both menstruating and non-menstruating age were invited and they were worshipped and offered delicacies to eat as per the usual ritual of Kanya Pujan. Typically, Kanya Poojan or Kanjak is a ritual where 9 young girls are revered and worshipped in Hindu households as they are thought to be manifestations of devi or goddess and customarily young girls who are of a non-menstruating age are only included in this ritual. But in an attempt to dismantle stigma around the natural process of menstruation, Sachhi Saheli organized this unique Kanya Pujan with menstruating women to especially refute the notion that only non-menstruating girls must be included in the Kanya Pujan ritual and to establish that menstruation is unholy or impure.
