Project Umeed, as the word indicates, is an initiative to bring the rayof hope in the lives of girls and women, with the efforts of BHEL andSachhi Saheli, through menstrual health and hygiene wareness.

BHEL has been sincerely contributing in social sector for many yearsto help underprivileged people through their CSR activities. Wewould like to express our sincere gratitude to BHEL for making this mission a reality, and for uniting with us into our planned socialinitiative.

Through this mission, BHEL and Sachhi Saheli has been able to equip500 slum women in 2 slum communities and 500 school girls in 3Delhi-based schools with essential knowledge about menstruationand discourses surrounding it.

  • 1. Pre-Intervention Survey: To assess thepre-existing notions, attitudes, practices of the said beneficiaries around Menstruation.
  • 2. Knowledge Dissemination: Through Expert Trainers in order to equip the beneficiaries with proper information onthe Normal, Abnormal and the Alarming aspects of Menstrual Health while also debunking myths that surround the natural process in order to lessen stigma.
  • 3. Distribution of Essential PeriodManagement Materials: In order to develop up healthy hygiene habits among beneficiaries’ materials such as Sanitary Pads, Period Preparedness Kit- the 5-PPouch to be distributed. (Bearing in mind the pandemic situation, Reusable clothmasks also to be distributed.
  • 4. Distribution Of Menstrual Health Awareness Book: To leave the beneficiaries with an essential and sustainable knowledge resource on Menstrual Health Management that theycan refer to from time to time and can also share with their family, friends and relatives.
  • 5. The 5th set of Machines was installed in SDM’s office in Geeta Colony in East Delhi on 19th January 2022.
